7-10-04 CRPS Newsletter Presented at July's Meeting
The premier issue of the CRPS Newsletter was passed out at July's monthly meeting. Available to members only, it will be mailed quarterly. Contact Renie Batory with your comments or suggestions for future issues.

Charlie Poth of Crestline, who worked at the Roundhouse as a crew dispatcher, answered several questions Paul Marsano, also of Crestline, had regarding past operations at the Roundhouse. Topics discussed included the government yards during WWII, the tracks that once crossed Bucyrus St., and the engines that damaged bricks at the Roundhouse when they failed to stop in time. We love having guests attend our meetings looking for answers to their questions! We all learn a little bit more about the Roundhouse with each discussion.

7-7-04 - Roundhouse Designated "Endangered Historic Site"
As a result of the efforts of the Crestline Roundhouse Preservation Society, the Ohio Preservation Alliance has placed the Crestline Roundhouse facility on its 2004 List of Ohio's Most Endangered Historic Sites.

This year, a record number of nominations were received by OPA. Each site was reviewed by a panel consisting of representatives from OPA, Heritage Ohio/Downtown Ohio, Inc., and the Ohio Historic Preservation Office, to assess both the importance of the historic resource as well as the level of threat to its future.

Roundhouse Society President Matt Link said, "The Society is elated the OPA recognizes the historic significance of the roundhouse facility. Each step puts us a little closer to our dream of preserving Crestline's railroad heritage. We realize we have a long way to go, but we are up to the challenge, thanks to the efforts of our dedicated members."
